How does Lunar record without a bot?
Lunar is a desktop app. It captures your microphone and your computer's system audio directly, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, or any call - and nothing ever joins the meeting as a participant.
Is recording without a bot okay to do?
You stay in control of recording, and with that control comes responsibility: consent rules vary by country and company. Our consent guide covers best practices - tell people you take AI notes, share the summary with them afterward. What Lunar removes is the third party in your data path, not the courtesy of asking.
Does my audio leave my machine?
Sessions are stored on your machine first and sync when you sign in. Transcription can run fully on-device with a local Whisper model, or use the cloud - your choice, clearly labeled. AI summaries and live chat use cloud AI today. The security page shows the exact data flow for every feature.
How deep is the Jira integration?
You bind a folder to a Jira project once, set default issue type and assignee, and every meeting's action items become issues there - review, click, done. Sprint and epic placement are on the roadmap and we'll say so loudly when they ship.
How is Lunar different from Otter, Fireflies, or Granola?
Bot-based tools like Otter and Fireflies join your call as a visible participant and process audio in their cloud. Granola records bot-free but its output is a note. Lunar combines bot-free capture, local-first sessions, and Jira-native output - decisions become issues in your backlog, not paragraphs in a doc.
